Volver Single Vineyard, 2009
A wine of this quality and magnitude can only come from carefully tended old gnarled vines grown under adverse conditions. The sandy calcareous clay soil strewn with rocks and stones around the village of Las Mesas in La Mancha makes it a difficult place to grow grapes. The arid Mediterranean-Continental climate only amplifies the harsh conditions. The Tempranillo harvested from these vineyards produces a deeply colored, full flavored wine with hints of ripe plums, black cherries, and sweet exotic spices. The supple tannins matte this wine a perfect complement to many robust meat dishes and can age in the bottle well for many years. Alc. 15% by vol. Product of Spain.
